Canadian Olympian & Iconic Artist Team Up for Project Canoe

Adam van Koeverden Teams Up With Iconic Canadian Photographer to Support Project Canoe

You may have heard of Stephen Orlando's work when it was featured in the Huffington Post, CBC, National Geographic and Wired. Now, he's teaming up with four time Olympic kayaker Adam van Koeverden to produce this series of kayak motion exposure photos. Half of the proceeds from the sale of these prints will go to Project Canoe!

Stephen attached colour changing LED lights to Adam’s paddle and used a long exposure photograph to reveal the path of his paddle stroke. Each photo is a single exposure and has not been manipulated in Photoshop. Adam doesn’t show up in two of the photos since the only things that will be exposed on the camera's sensor are stationary, like the skyline, or bright, like the LEDs.

This project represents something really exciting for me; a really unique intersection of technology, sport and art. The result is a striking image representing something more than simply a moment; it’s an image that demonstrates movement over a period of time, made even more gorgeous with my home and favourite city in the world as the background.
