Our Regular Trips

All of our canoe trips take place in Ontario's Temagami wilderness (one hour north of North Bay). Project C.A.N.O.E. trips focus on basic canoeing and camping skills, environmental awareness, and the development of valuable social and leadership skills such as co-operative decision making, team work and conflict resolution.

Most of our trips consist of four youth and two group leaders. Campers are involved in every aspect of the trip, including paddling and portaging, camp set-up, cooking, and cleaning pots and pans. As part of our environmental stewardship work, groups also clean up campsites.

At the end of the trip, campers will have learned basic canoeing and wilderness camping skills, gained appreciation for Temagami's spectacular natural environment and have participated as a positive team member. The sense of accomplishment from having completed the trips is often evident in increased confidence and self esteem in school and personal relationships.

While on trip, we try to create an environment where the campers will be comfortable learning new skills and trying new methods for dealing with difficulties. It is the goal of PC trips to create a unique learning experience that our campers will carry with them throughout their lives.

Which Trip?

Our 5-day and 8-day trips are for new and returning campers. The 12 -day trips are for returning campers who have been on a trip with us and would like a bigger challenge. The Long Trip (18 days) is a co-ed trip for youth aged 15 to 17 who have been on trip with us and would like a new challenge. More details on each of these trips are contained in the information brochure.
